What is the best way to get from Bangor to Baxter? Will be there on the 24th of June and will need to get to Baxter by that evening. SOBO begins 25th.

This info was good as of March. Check the details yourself to be sure!
Cyr Bus lines (800 244 2335) leaves Bangor once a day at 6PM and gets to Medway at 7:40PM. The Park is 30+ miles from Medway, and the gate closes at 8PM (check this). There’s no public trans after that, just Katahdin Taxi at 207 723 2000 ($40 or so to KSC)
Southbounders can not stay at The Birches AT lean-to, you need to make reservations in person or by mail to stay inside the Park. Headquarters is behind the McDonalds in Millinocket, and closes at 4PM. http://baxterstateparkauthority.com/

hey there - in case you can’t use the bus, it’s really easy to hitchhike up here, especially if you make a sign that says “Kathadin” with an AT symbol on it! People are used to seeing hkiers around, besides it will be good hitchhiking practice for getting to your mail drops!
