Bangor to monson

anybody know of a way to get from bangor, me, to monson? i seem to have exhuasted every possibility and have come up with nothing. i’m wondering if someone might no a secret method that i am not aware of. public transportation is of no help. and if a shuttle will make the run at all, they charge a lot more money than i can afford. just thought i’d throw it out there.

Maybe, wait one whilst I e-mail a hiker friend that lives on the coast.

as of right now i am supposed to board a greyhound bus out of d.c. bound for bangor at 1:45 tonight (in the morning). i would like to get from bangor to monson, which would put me south of the 100-mile wilderness, and pick up the trail there- heading south. i want to save the wilderness and the big K for the very end. if i can’t get to monson, i guess i’ll go to baxter park and just pick up the trail there, but that would make things more difficult for me in the long run because of other engagements that i have to attend down the road.

okay, what? did you talk with your friend that you thought might be able to shuttle? my plans are still in limbo, until i can figure out what my options are. if i don’t hop on the bus, then i’ll just take the train to harpers ferry. six one way, half a dozen the other. isn’t that how the saying goes?

bushwhack…disregard that last post. for some reason what you’d written didn’t come up on my screen. i appreciate you checking into it, though…grizzly adam

i’m looking for a ride to baxter from the airport in
bangor(?). i assume i should fly into bangor and i don’t really know how far it is to katadin. is it gonna cost me a ton to find a shuttle or should i hitchike? i’ll be up there some time next week so anything anyone can tell me would be rad.

Check out:
http://www.appalachiantrail.org/hike/thru_hike/termini.html

This has info on a bus line from Bangor to Medway $10.50, and then a taxi from Medway to Katahdin Stream campground
in Baxter S.P. for $40. (I was able to hitch hike from
Medway to Baxter.)
