His site was on my “favorites”… I hope all is well with him and that he continues his endeavor at a later time.

I figured he would have a hard time completing his journey when he was bummed that his pocketmail device crashed…

I was bummed too when I read his latest posts this morning. If it’s meant to be it’ll work out but man! I sure hope he gets the breather he needs and everything set again to complete his Triple Crown!
Oh, BTW – does ANYone out there know where Bono is now and what happened with his hike? Like that other guy said the other day, something about needing closure…I agree!
Thanks.

My question to hikers attempting to set records or achieve super high goals is “Why”? So I asked… and I think Barkeater has a great attitude about what he is trying to do and I think he will continue after a much needed break.

When he was in Erwin he sounded really sick and went to the Dr. and ended up on a lot of meds. He had been sick much of the 19 days from Springer. The weather in this area has been really cold… lots of -0 nights on the mountains, wet and icy… a bad combination when you are trying to fight an illness and loneliness.

Thanx Miss Janet, with all the people who have done so many miles, I was scared to add a voice. But You said it. I knew Barkeater was rethinking his illness since I talked to Pat Peoples right after he left the trail. But the key to all this is, he may not have left, just is regrouping, per his strategy he outlined early in his journal.

Personally I am pulling for the fella…and if he is listening, I am happy with whatever you decide Barkeater.

I am pulling for him to return and not give up also.
I hope he does try. The way the weather is out there you could die and the next person by would find your body. I think for him it was the best move.
