Barr trail - The Colorado Trail

This isn’t about the CDT but close to it. I’m new to Colorado and live in Colorado Springs. I’m thinking of doing the short Barr trail from Manitou Springs to the summit of Pike’s Peak. It’s been awhile since I’ve backpacked and would like to stay at the barr camp in one of the lean to’s or camp by tent. I’d like to not hike it alone. If anyone is interested please let me know. I don’t know any other backpackers in this area and really could go for meeting a few.

Also, Iam male married to a lovely Panamanian woman, so another guy would be prefferable, as to not cause issues.

I love Barr Trail and have done it many many times. These days you are never alone since it is so popular. :sunglasses: If you are a little hesitant why not take the cog railway to the summit and walk down? You can do the whole thing in a few hours and you will get to see Barr Camp but you won’t need to stay all night. What a cool place to live… Sorry for the non-CT post. Couldn’t resist. Pikes is 14,110 feet. Give-or-take. There are several other really cool trails leaving from Barr Camp too.

I thought of that too Apple, but I need a good hike with an overnight too. So I can see what Colorado cold is really like, lol. All zipped up in my sleeping bag.
