Do you have to carry a bear can for the entire JMT?

Yes. There is a short stretch in the middle where it’s not legally required, but the bears are just as active there. Carry it the whole way. :cheers

You can rent on cheap through the park. I am hiking the JMT this summer and I have the Bear Vault.:girl
