Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I read somewhere that a Bear Canister is required on certain sections of the AT?

only from jarrard gap to neels gap in ga 3/1 to 6/1 and only if you camp. its a 5 mile section, almost everyone camps south of jarrard (usually at lance creek)and hikes thru that section the next day.
