I was speaking with somebody about hiking, and he mentioned that he and his brother go hiking every other year for a week out west. I joked about the bears and I mentioned bear cannisters and/or hanging food at night when hiking. Apparently, they don’t do it…
Somebody else joked about being chased by bears for the food, too which I replied to the first person, “Just remember, you don’t have to outrun the bear, you only have to outrun your brother.” He didn’t get it (didn’t see the movie trailer I guess), but the second guy laughed at it.
But yeah, the overlap is getting pretty bad… you can watch videos on different websites, or read international online new accounts, of the idiots in these african wildlife sanctuaries, where you can drive your car through and see lions, rhinos, and the like, get out of the car to take pictures or feed the animals. I recently read where two Japanese tourists were killed doing this.
I also remember in Red Rock Canyon, watching a parent coax there little kid to go feed the wild (feral) burros a sandwich because they throught it would make a cute picture. Lets not mind the fact that the burro is occasionally back-kicking the other burrow, and those kicks are easily strong enough to break a man’s legs, or a child’s head…and the parents glared at me for trying to point out the kicking and danger to their kid !!!
Darwinism. Like flushing the gene pool toilet every now and again.
