I hiked Ocala NF regularly in the 80’s and 90’s. I never saw or even heard of a single bear. I have seen 3 now in a week and the ranger said the forest has about 10 times what it should have! They are hungry so be extra careful at night when camping in ONF. I must say it was really cool to see them. I have heard conflicting explanations about why there are so many.
