Beer station on JMT

Hey folks, I hiked the JMT in summer 09 and heard rumors of good Samaritans who bring food and drink to tired hikers on some parts of the trail. I liked the idea so much I decided I will be one of those Samaritans. This August I will drive to the South Lake trailhead near Bishop and hike in to Mather Pass. I will bring as much beer as I can possibly carry and hand them to whoever summits the pass(and is over 21).
My question to all of you is do you have any suggestions for making this work? I have been looking at using a small pull-behind cart to increase my load carrying capacity. I am setting aside about 6 days for this and I am hoping to make some days a little brighter on my favorite trail in the world. Thanks for any input,
~Jeremy

Beer sounds great; maybe you can make a trailer with one wheel like bikes have & find some snowfields to cool em with. One other option is take some brandy like the Swiss dogs around your neck; or take some Schnapps like they hand out in the Austrian alps; or take some cheap vodka & mix with something so you don’t need a cart; then you can take some snacks also, perhaps sandwiches & chips with fresh tomatoes etc… Thanks for trangeling, g

A couple of years ago, I hiked the JMT and there were rumors of free hot dogs and beer at muir hut. Apparently We just missed out. Sounds like it could be fun as long as everyone packs out their garbage.:cheers

We took a break at Muir hut, admiring the taxidermied marmot on the mantle; until after about half an hour, it moved as did its babies in the rock-filled fireplace! ('93)
