Best 150 miles of the Colorado Trail

This summer/spring, a good friend of mine and I are planning to spent 2 weeks or so on the CT.
He is fairly new to backpacking, but is in excellent shape and could handle much of what the CT has to offer. I’m looking for the most breathtaking section of the CT for mid June.

Any suggestions?

Eddiesville to Durango - hands down, best, nicest. 158 miles. Its a pain getting to Eddiesville, though. Next best would be Spring Creek Pass to Durango. (127 miles)

I should have mentioned that if we have a heavy snow winter and spring, mid June is a bit iffy just about anywhere on the trail. The later you start the better. People who started this yeat in Denver in early June ran into deep snow on Georgia Pass.

Yes, mid-June could be too early for the really spectacular areas of CO, unless you’re prepared for postholing above treeline, mud below treeline, swollen, possibly dangerous creek crossings, and weak snow bridges.

On the other hand, it’s usually nice weather in June before the summer monsoon and daily pm thunderstorms roll in, and if it’s a real light snow year, it could be fine.
