i am thinking of doing flagstaff north, then maybe, depending on time it takes to do arizona, go to bryce canyon in Utah. how long would that take and when is it not too cold or too hot?

I just hiked through Flag and north to the canyon, and it’s a good time right now–just a little snow left on trail. The guide book says from May to October, worst case, depending on snow levels. The time it takes depends on your pace, of course. Except for the Canyon and the SF Peaks, it’s easy walking on the AZT. Past the SF Peaks, I made 30 mile days consistently.
The guidebook isn’t good for much but planning, but you may want to try to get a copy, maybe from the library. If you hike, you may want to join the ATA and get updated trail and map data from the website.

Expect some snowfall and 20 degree nights if you go in April or May. Late May or early June might be best.
