Bicycling the CT

Hi, does anyone know of a person(s) who has thru-biked the CT? I realize hiking it is more common, but I am trying to get any info I can about biking it. Thanks.

I hiked the ct this summer and I encountered many people riding segments but nobody thru biking it. Of course if you have the book you will see that you are forced to detour for large sections(one stretch is around 100miles). In my opinion it would be fun but not really the same trail.

Yes, we bought the official guide book and know of all the detours. In a perfect world, we’d like to bike the “bike” route, and then hike the wilderness sections (mostly south of Hwy 50) where bikes are forced to detour. But, I was hoping to get some first hand info from anyone who had thru-biked it. Oh well, it doesn’t hurt to put the word out. Thanks for responding.

There’s a great article and pictorial of a guy’s thru-bike of the CT in the current issue of a magazine called (I do believe) get outdoors magazine or something like that, sorry, I forget, but you may get help from a local outfitter to track it down. Good photos, trip diary, I think he and a friend took a week or little longer to do it the week after the 9/11 attacks. You’ll get some ideas as to good stops, and break-up of mileage. Let me know if you can’t find it, and I’ll see if I can track it down next time I’m at work.
