I have a dilemma. A couple friends and I are going to section hike from about Hot Springs, NC to near the VA border the last week of May/first week of June.
I am looking at 2 sleeping bags - the Big Agnes Horse Thief and Yampa. The Horse Thief is rated to +35 degrees and has 44" in the footbox. The Yampa is rated to +40 degrees and has a roomy 55" in the footbox. Everything else is just about equal. I am hot-natured and am willing to trade the extra ounces for the Yampa (and accompanying rectangular sleeping pad).
My question - will those +5 degrees matter? Does anyone have any experience w/ either bag?
