ok, so im getting the blood sugar down slowly and without insulin, which is good. My Doctors think that me going hiking for a few days to see how my body handles it is an ok idea, so I’m gonna head down probably febuary 14th and the plan is to hike from Springer to Neels with a friend who is going to do that section for their spring break and see how it goes. At least I know the Section, if that matters for anything. Got the boots out today and put on the nikwax again. Will get the stove out tommorrow to make sure it still works.
Can’t believe how many Carbs are in pre-packaged meals though. I may have to eat my “dinner” in the afternoon to give my body the chance to burn all the carbs while I hike instead of eating the hot meal at night after I settle down. Not exactly my Ideal plan but I’ve got to adapt, right?

As a side note, saw this great little backpacking axe made by fiskar that weighed like 1 lbs that I almost bought. Fiberglass handle and molded to the steel head. Would come in handy for gathering firewood for cold nights. But then I thought what about a bowsaw. They are pretty light, and the blade can be stored easily. Infact, I’ve seen plans on how to make your own bowsaw if you just carry the blade and a pocket knife, but thats a bit extreme. Anyway, I ramble.

Gonna be odd hiking without Snickers and 3 musketeers though. On the Other hand, Splenda is light, so Perhaps Carrying Koolaid Packets might work for flavoring water. Cause sugar sure is heavy. Since I will be hiking with a friend got a few options I wouldnt have if I was packing everything myself.
