My son is currently thru-hiking in VA, just past the Peaks of Otter. I have searched for info on the trail status north of his location, and the SNP, but am not finding anything. Anybody have any links or suggestions on who to contact for info? He is have to hike thru/around a lot of blown-down trees and it is making for slow progress. Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

Just came through that section. For the most part, a lot of the blow downs have been cleared except the biggest ones that take the most time to move off. He will still have to hike around and potentially move a few things off the trail, but it shouldn't be too bad. If anything, the section between Beahms Gap and Elkswallow Wayside was still closed due to a forest fire as of yesterday.
