There are a couple of people listed in the books who will board dogs near Baxter. Has anyone had any experience with either of them, or have a recommendation?

I have a recommendation - if you are thru-hiking, leave your dog at home! I have stared at your message for two days and fought the urge to respond, but I can’t hold out any longer. The AT is way too long, way too hot, and way too crowded to be hiked by the vast majority of dog breeds. The hardest but best decision I ever made was leaving mine behind in the care of responsible family members. Your dog will certainly follow you to the tend of the earth, but don’t ask him to.

I am not bringing my dog on my thru-hike. But, my husband will be driving me up to Maine & depositing me at Baxter. He then plans on hanging around for a couple of weeks to make sure I really want to do this. We don’t want to leave the dog home in Florida for 3 weeks when we will only be in Baxter for a maximum of 3 days. The rest of the time the dog will be having a wonderful time with my husband in our VW camper!
I appreciate your concern & comment, but…
Now, if there are any positive responses to my inquiry, I’d be most appreciative.

Great decisions all the way around! I hope the entire family enjoys the trip.
