Hello all…while hikeing in the GSMNP this past September a fellow hiker told me about a book called “lost” written by a tracker working in the park. His job was to find people who were missing. I have yet to find this book and wondering if I may have the title wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Try www.bookfinder.com I’ve found a few fairly rare books on this site (Campfires Along the Appalachian Trail, for one).

The title is correct. I bought the book, a paperback, at Cades Cove in Tennessee last year. Great read. It is comprised of many stories told by a ranger who participated in rescuing individuals lost in the GSMNP during his career. The guy is actually still in the area I believe (personal info is in the back of the book). I loaned the book to a friend so I can’t tell you the author’s name right now. If you want, let me know and I can get that info for you. Great stories on individual rescues - some with good endings, some not - all true and many on/near the trails and shelters familiar to hikers as well as readers of here.
