Boston-Katahdin

It’s looking like when I head east later this summer I’m going to end up flying into Boston and trying to make my way to Katahdin via public transportation. Any advice on the logistics here, more specifically how big of a headache it might be?
It looks pretty straight forward, a bus ride up to Bangor, followed by another to a smaller Maine town (Medford, perhaps?) then a hitch to Baxter SP. How difficult will it be getting from the Boston airport to the bus station? Are there frequent routes, once a day, etc?
Just looking for a little advice, as certainly there are plenty who have made this trek (possibly in the opposite direction.) Thanks…

You can catch a Concord Coach bus right from Logan Airport terminals A, B, C or E and get to Bangor. There are four buses per day that go all the way to Bangor and many more that go to Portland (local and express) where you could wait for a transfer to Bangor. Portland is a nice city to spend a few hours. I’ve pasted the schedule below.

Peter pan bus is the regional in that area. I know they do a NYC express, then maybe you could catch a direct route out of there. Maybe there is a metro train that goes to NYC too.

What is the date you plan to arrive in Boston? As an update, on the news just now
it is saying Concord Coach is going to cut back service but that might be just for NH

Thanks for the advice everyone, that helps a lot. I should be arriving in Boston sometime around the 28th of August. Hopefully the service isn’t affected too much, I can’t imagine they would cut it completely, would they?
