Bounce Box - Pacific Crest Trail

How does anyone get around time restrictions with posting bounce boxes?

Without anyone to help with posting parcels It looks like I will have to keep posting things like the Washington/Oregon guide many times over before I ever need it.

Can anyone let me know where on the trail I can therefore post a parcel where it can remain for a month or more?

Thanks

i wouldnt worry about the time at a post office, because from what i saw this last summer along the trail most post offices were holding packages until the hiker came through and picked them up. there were more than a few that had been there for over a month. plus if you write on your box the date you will be arriving, they will hold it for you anywhere between 2 weeks and a month after your expected pick up date. almost all the post offices along the trail are small town post offices and are pretty easy going about this.

hey, have a great hike out there!! take alot of pictures. you will never regret taking too many pictures!

I wouldn’t worry too much about shipping the guides along with you. Simply send the bounce bucket (use a 5 gallon plastic paint bucket with snap tight lid, available at hardware stores) 10-14 days in front of you. I sent my bucket to:

Warner Springs
Big Bear City
Mojave
Tuolumne Meadows
Sierra City
Castella (better to send it to Dunsmuir)
Ashland
Sisters
Cascade Locks
Skykomish

Don’t send the bucket to places like Kennedy Meadows or VVR.
