Bramble - Appalachian Trail

well, i’ve found this male testosterone bull fight quite entertaining. i was bramble’s mate & hiking partner for years. when boiled down to its essence, bramble’s behaviour is encapsulated in one word, ENERGY. Unbridled, untempered, RABID energy. his energy comes off as chaotic, because it is not stifled via our provincial cultural indoctrinations. one “chippy chap” on your forum called him a freak, is he a freak? yes, if normalcy defines one who works, pays for stuff, and occasionally gives a tad to a cause.(but not to the absolution of primary self-absorption) carlos has committed to hiking x 5yrs to garner funds & awareness for the big c in honor of his aunt. it is a long quest. in my opinion, he has already succeeded. he was responsible for saving my neighbor’s life thru a sequence of events that cured her ovarian cancer. thru his research for a college paper, he made me aware of an unethical practice via a drug company-the womens health initiative followed to bring that drug down to baseline acceptance. he also pulled animals out of a burning house alone. wasn’t it the great “OZ” who awarded the “DO-GOODER” medal to someone? well, this is raw bramble. its that simple. bramble, as well as other thru hikers, are developing their self-affirmation. “BOO BOO”, who is helping in Sri Lanka, is also generating a new sense of self. and guess what? all of our trail names are just that-new definitions of self. that is all that is happening here. bramble is just a cheeky chap-he doesn’t have the cerebral stuff for a calculated charity con.(look at his sentence structure) so if this is a freak, bring it on! don’t misinterpret me, i’m in medicine, and measured mediocrity is needed for me to make a part of the world work. and just imagine if we morphed bramble’s terminator physique with the literary prowess of michael creighton!!the problem, if no one has noticed, is that bramble needs a micro-management team! the charity was initially set up via the UCONN foundation for annual giving-roz reabach-director.they recommended moving the fund to our local firehouse. this was done beccuz bramble couldn’t meet the beneficiaries due to HIPPA regs. a major contributor was the RITE AID corp. via Ed Beasely-senior VP. as for personal expenses, 3 of us help when he’s down to rice and dog food. so to his critics who castigate him, examine your motives. but dear bramble, i’m here not to eulogize you. i have always been your toughest critic. your passion and drive to suelch the big c is awesome. but my continual interface with the expectations and entitlement of western medicine has me jaded., especially with the issue of bioethicism (ala teri shivo) and i am selfish with the AT. i use it for escape from my pressured life. i frankly could give 2 poops bout what miles/day everybody is doing-just another ego-affirmation, do you guys ever see what you are hiking thru? breath it, feel it, love its SILENCE. i feel the at is linear in design, yet circular in its teaching. “we shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time” (T.S. Eliot) so dear bramble, we need you to circle back someday to the place that loves and appreciates you the most CHEERS, and GOOD ON YA!! onwards again to NEW ZEALAND… lov virginia creeper

I was hiking last weekend in the Mooselaukee area and stopped at the shelter just past Glencliffe for a break. I was reading last years register and noticed an entry form a Bramble who passed through I believe in July. Is this the same Bramble? I don’t know how his name keeps coming up on the forum. We should all just let him hike and do his thing.

ok, great Bramble is the best person on earth… now let’s move on. Peace and respect to Bramble but I am sick and tired of all this sh*t. There are a lot of great people on the trail. The ones I have the most respect for are the ones that let their actions speak for themselves. Bramble may well be Jesus Christ on Earth or Haile Selassie the second… fantastic. great. next topic.

I met Bramble April 2nd. Gave him a ride to K-Mart in Franklin. Seems to be a fine fellow.
Full of energy for sure.

I enjoyed meeting up with Bramble on various occaisons last year - he’s from a neighboring town and I’d seen the newspaper stories about his hike and he’d seen the stories about mine, but we never met until Catawba. Give the guy a break - his heart is a big as he is and his hike will benefit people. How many of the rest of us can have done the same?

I am glad to all those who I have met, thank you for all your support, ASwah, I have a big hug for you on traildays, I miss all my friends in CT and family, I will see you again walking stomach, I am just one man trying to make a differance, bringing a positive hope to cancer/diabetes people, that’s all. Thinking about going to Puerto Rico to meet my family and walk across America, before you jugde me, walk with me and give back as I am. If I am on my own, I am questioned, I walk in with hundreds, and raise thousands, I am excepted, but I would rather walk for something I am createing, building, and hoping to make a differance in our own country. But if any one knew what RANGERS went through, it changes your life forever, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

I recognize as I volunteer as a hiker for cancer,
Fully Knowing the hazards of this chosen profession,
I will always endevour to uphold prestidge, honor, and high
spirit of my Aunt’s name and my reasons.

No woman/man will take me away from this task.

Five years is what I am committed to, everyday is a new life for me, Bussiness or People, people are important to me. So Bramble sends you a big hug, accepted or not, you read it, you have just been hugged by BRAMBLE, so many times people call the cops cause I WEAR A Kilt, maybe you should just call me RAMBO, just let me alone, I will do my best, whaT ARE YOU WILLING TO DO?

Starting to look like spring on the Kennebec River! I may be snowblind from all the snow and ice we got this winter, but I think I see some signs of green and where there is hope, there is life. We all make choices in our lives and live with the results. When at the end of the day, we lay our weary bones to rest, we should be thankful for the strength to climb mountains and cross streams. That if we could have done any better, a new day awaits at first light to live your life to the absolute fullest. See ya at the river. f
