Burney Falls Camp Store

Is anyone familiar with the Burney Falls Camp Store? I’m wondering if they generally have a good enough supply to get a hiker through to Dunsmuir (82.6 miles), or if I should send a resupply box? I have no dietary restrictions and not a picky eater, I’d just rather not have to hitch into the town of Burney. Thanks!

Been there twice. It’s a very large store but geared mostly towards fishing and car camping. You’ll find about what a gas station/quickie mart has, mostly junk food.

burney falls is very expensive, either for eating there or resupplying…paw-ee and i had a very difficult time at burney (getting our package, purchasing food and getting to town)…our suggestion would be to send a package there (in plenty of time) and for THIS particular box, pack yourself some real treats!..you’ll want something yummy and rewarding…save your pennies for icecream at burney falls, because you won’t be able to resist that!..but this is a case when i think it would be worth it to ship junk food to yourself!..they have plenty of souvenirs though! ;>P

I had an easy time hitching (unplanned) into the town of Burney. They have a grocery and had a pizza place with a lunch buffet. The Burney Falls Park store on the other hand, couldn’t locate my package and had pretty much only expensive junk food.

To do again, i’d just resupply in town, and stay overnight in the park but not bother with its store.

It took me about 30 seconds to hitch in, though i made a sign with my sharpie on some roadside trash. I liked Burney, even died my hair blue in a hotel there. Then Hydro bleached the bathroom to get rid of the blue stains everywheree. everything i wanted there except decent shoes, they had some shoes, but not the best. Hotel was about 60 bucks. had lunch at Mc D’s dinner was in the hotel microwave, but there was a good looking BBQ across the street next to Rite Aid that could be awesome. Dont let Yogi’s guide saying it’s a hard hitch persuade you into not going to Burney. As a town, I didnt find anything particulary great there, but the resupply and lodging thing was sure fine.

Thanks for the info folks. Decided to send a box and play the rest by ear. I’ll hitch if I have to. Totally understand the pun also. Been making the same silly joke myself!
