Bushwhack to Mendon Peak

I’m thinking of an August NOBO E2E hike and would like to try to get in a bushwhack to Mendon Peak. It seems like the best bushwhacks start North of Mendon, but since I already did my purist Long Trail hike - passing every blaze and walking the road walks - I’d be happy to approach Mendon from the South and come out to the North. I’d be grateful for any ideas and info on the best bushwhacks for a NOBO LT hiker.

Also, are there any other bushwhacks you’d recommend (I did out and back detours to most or possibly all of the nearby peaks with trails during an '05 SOBO trip).

Ideally I’d like to go to Little Killington and follow the ridge towards Mendon - is there any kind of herd path that does that, or maybe a logging road?

I think I’d like to Bushwhack to Big Jay as well.

this should be easy from just north of jay where an “unofficial” gap in the snow fence marks (off the northway trail to skiers left) the “trailess” route to the summit of big jay — this is in winter however – I’m sure it is much more “unofficial” in summer but a common bushwack, being one of the 100 tallest in new england. It is probably the most accessible “trailless” peak in new england in winter if you’d like to bag it then. less than two miles from jay tramway unload area (you can by a one tram ride for $10) or snowshoe up a ski trail for free – if you’ve ever even considered any kind of sport where you glide down snow Jay Peak is the best Ski/Ride Resort in the world – Going there to snowboard is what inspired me to attempt the long trail… stay @ snowshoe lodge in montgomery when in the area –
