Camino - Arizona Trail

Got off the Camino del Diablo Tuesday afternoon, after a grueling (for me) 40-50 miles.
Saw not one Illegal, but there was a BP presence.
The USAF provided a nighttime light show - didn’t get to see much of it, because I was on the west end of the trail by then, and their activity was on the more easterly end.

Hey Kingman Cruiser,
I’m planning to hike through that area this winter break from NAU, well maybe a little further south, like right along the border. How did you find the permit process for crossing the Barry Goldwater range. Anything I should know? You and hopefully everyone else can check out my plans on a Facebook page I started for my hike. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Flagstaff-AZ/Dreams-of-Freedom/149596358410607?ref=ts Or search Dreams of Freedom on Facebook.

This lets people follow along as I plan and accomplish my hike. I haven’t updated in a week, but it’s midterms and I’m cramming.

Im planning on hiking between Dec.15 and January 15th. Starting at near Kingman then southbounding down the Colorado Channel then hooking east along the border.

:cheers

Hi, Guino.
You can pick up a permit at either the MCAS in Yuma or the CPNWR office in Ajo. You fill in a couple forms releasing certain gov’t departments from responsibility, sign them and you’re on your way.
I don’t know what the weather will be like in the time frame you posted. It might be nice.
Are you sure you want to start your hike near Kingman?
We’re about 350 road miles from the Camino.
If you’re a desert hiker, you’ll like it. No “ups” and a soft desert floor to throw down your sleeping bag.
And it’s quiet, except for the occasional night shows the USAF puts on.
Feel free to contact me regarding any details you want to pin down.
