Campmor +20F Sleeping Bag
Has anybody hiked the AT with a Campmor +20
F Sleeping Bag? The weight is only 2 lb and 4 oz (which is good), and unbelievably inexpensive, but with only 550 down, I’m wondering if the bag can perform to it’s rating. I’d appreciate feedback from users of the bag. Thanks.

Hiked the entire trail in 2000 with this bag plus cotton liner. Started April 1st finished first week September. The bag did just fine but keep it dry. I still have this bag but up graded to the longer one two years ago for more room. It was well worth the $109.00 I spent on it…
Packs down good, I was never cold even in the shelters.

I hiked my first long trail, the PCT, with that bag and it did just fine. Good value for the price. In my experience, it was good for low twenties. But when I started the AT in early April of '08, I had several nights in the mid-teens and I don’t think that bag would have cut it. It would have been easy enough to bail and sit out some winter storms, though.

If you can find a better quality down bag on sale, you probably won’t regret it. I upgraded after the PCT and was glad I did.
