Looks like my world at work mya keep my from my section hike in June/July. So, instead of going then, is it feasbible to hike from DWG North to however far I can get in 3 weeks? Hope to get to the Mass/Conn Line. Is water an issue? Is it real cold? I’ve hiked from Georgia to DWG over the last 4 years, but mostly in the Spring/Summer. Thanks for any responses!

September in New England. Cool invigorating fall weather, turning leaves, no bugs. As opposed to June/July with sweltering heat, humidity and bug bites.

Consider yourself lucky. :cheers

September is my favorite time to hike in New England. You will still get warm days but low humidity, few bugs, cool nights great for sleeping and the kids are back in school so the trails empty out during the week days.

I wish I was going with you.

It sounds like instead of a bad thing; you’re getting a taste of the good life in New England! Odd how often that happens…Hope that it’s as fun as it sounds…enjoy!

Lucky you!

I can’t speak to water in September, but used my 40 degree bag all the way to Katahdin (summiting Sept. 19). Of course, I had hat and clothes to add if necessary, and was trail-toughened. You’ll also be at lower elevations than NH/ME during that time.

Crisp mornings, warm days, crisp nights. Perhaps a campfire now and again. Right on.

There are certainly not the same amount, but you’ll be able to run into quite a few SOBO’s and flip-floppers if you start at DWG in September.
