Candle light service at KMdws

Last sunday night i held a candlelighting service for a number of folks who have died on the PCT in the last number of years… It included trail founders, trail angles, workers and hikers.
We called their name then lite a candle in their honor, this included Annie and the Salesman and Weathercarrot lite the candles for them. Yogi did the one for John Donovan and Billy Goat lite the one for Richard Menkie…I lite the final one for No Way Ray and afterwards we had a very long pause to think about our missing friends… very moving moment for us all and i was impressed how long the silence lasted as we all reflected i’m sure on other friends lost over the years. It was video taped by Squatch and Go tell it on the Mt. so perhaps you will all be able to share this moment with us.
We did a final goodby and drank a toast to the memory of No Way Ray on monday the 19th of june…

How wonderful and kind for you and everyone else involved to hold that service in honor of their memory. I am sure this brings comfort to their family members as well.
May each of us be so blessed to find and keep great friends.

It was nice to meet you Ed, and hope your hike went well.
I couldnt get there till late in the day as I was North of Walker Pass, but I did get to film your reading of your ‘poem’ (Nieghbor J) before you took off after breakfeast.
It was good to see all old friends as well as some new ones.
Thanks for the consideration and togetherness you helped bring about.
