For those of you who are approaching Southern MT, the CDT is closed along Mile Creek in Segment 2 (north of Targhee Divide) to the trailhead near highway 87 because a herd of cattle ate some poisonous delphenium and died, with the possibility of bears being attracted to and feasting upon the carcasses. I would suggest walking the road from Targhee Pass to Raynolds Pass then re-joining the trail there. There is new trail built going west from Raynolds Pass on highway 87 - it is not neccessary to walk to the corrals described in the guidebook. It’s not signed at the highway - look for some markers in the field to the west to get started.
