In talking with Bill Jennings last night he told me about some news regarding the trail. The trail Angle Anita G has moved away from her home in Pie Town and no longer will host hikers! Bill said however the new folks at her place will try and continue in her place.
Its been so hot out there that the forest service has closed down a lot of NMexico trails and are worried about hikers carring fuel etc etc so with the trail closed a lot of them are forced to road walk.
Bill mentioned that he was with Walt Radney and George Roach(traveling man)and the heat is pretty intense right now.

I am wondering if there is some mix up in info. Nita is still in Pie town - was just there not a couple of weeks ago. Trail angels nita and don have been hosting hikers for years. Is there another woman by the name of Anita???

I just spoke to Nita on the phone. She is moving a few miles out of town. HOWEVER, she is not selling her toaster house. She moves at the end of the summer (probably August), and the people who will move into the house have biked across the country and are excited to host hikers.

The toasters are still on the fence, and in Nita’s words “the porch still belongs to the hikers”. Never fear, Nita said that hikers will always be welcome at her toaster house. Nita’s phone number is still the same, and hikers can still call her.
