I would like to know if there is any cell phone coverage on the CDT in the state of Wyoming. I was thinking of using my cell phone to get a ride into Pinedale from the trailhead in the Wind River Range? I’m also wondering if I don’t take a phone, how hard it is to find a phone in the listed supply places for Wyoming?

1st thing to do is consult your cell carrier’s map & call em & ask if they cover those highways, high places, & trailheads into Piney, Landy, Duby & Rawly. If they do, it’s highly convenient not just to get a ride; or help in an emergency; but to call fr’s & fa’s as you walk the road into & out of towns on the long distance treks so you can spend your down time shopping & relaxing & watching tv (motels mostly had phones at least 7 years ago they did that you could use a phone card with).

Just guesses, but I’m walking WY right now with a verizon cell… That trailhead will not have coverage. I had some coverage north of the winds, but south of Dubois which I used to order new shoes. Thank goodness for that. Great Basin segment didn’t have coverage until the very end near Rawlins.
