Just read a story on the AP about the cell phone debate. It has gone past just annoying the hikers although an AT hiker is mentioned in the story.

It mentions the Forest Service adding sites to five national parks.

Although I’m not suprised that they missed the bigger part of the story: That cell phone towers kill 4 - 40 million birds anually in the US, according to the US Fish & Wildlife Service.

No one will talk about it because they are selfish, greedy, and they would rather have convenience than birds.

I wonder how many birds are killed each year by flying into windows?

For some reason the Fish and Wildlife Service, the Forest Service, the Aububon Society and all those other agencies chose to focus on the single-night masacres of birds on the order of tens of thousands in a single incident instead of random window slammings. I would be interested to see how many have been killed as a result of the 5 cell towers now established inside the borders of Yellowstone National Park.

Uh, six at my house in to the bay window. One locked the garage and the one I hit with my awtowmowbeel. Us or the towers, we’re gonna kill it all…and then W can pave it.

Its very sad to say that this generation is going to be famous for all these towers. Cause satellite is whats going to take over and all this crap of a mess they made blasting a road and power lines on the mountain tops of our beloved A-T will take forever to get rid of the junkyards they craped out our mountaintop vistas with, cause they will just board everything up if they can get away with it. And the blinking lights is what you get for saying something about the birds that get killed buy the thousands. It really sad that we come to this. Or has it, not to many are finishing with a cell phone either I see.
