Flame, Big Red, Sunrise and Sunset and I did trail magic at Newfound Gap the last of March this year and met some of this years class. I was wondering how many are still on the trail or have finished their hike? Here is a list of the guys we met. I’m sure some of their names have changed.
Snail (Sally Walker), Patch, Knuckle, Gator, Dime, Nickle, Notes, Josh Cordle, Crystal, Luke, Tang, AKA, Celeius, Bliss, P.R., Juke, Wicked Wizard, Sticky Fingers, ORB, Chunkey, David and Apricot.
There were a couple more but I could not read their handwriting. For the class of '04 we will be back at Newfound Gap the last weekend in March. Happy Trails!

Luke and Sticky fingers summited the same day i did. AKA also finished a week or two after. I heard Nickle and Dime dropped oout around NY. I think they got burned out after ridiculously high mileage days and boredom.

Let’s see… I finished. Wizard finished two weeks before me. I heard Notes was still on the trail, too. Orb finished with Goldberry and Miss Kitty (their journals on trailjournals), and Chunky finished with Bliss while Stickyfingers finished with Luke. Loderunner (David) and Apricot I last saw in North Woodstock, where they had to jump the rest of the Whites/southern Maine to finish the 100 mile wilderness by a deadline. PR and Juke flip-flopped and I saw them in Maine, heading down to PA. Celsius got off the trail in Erwin, and I hiked with her partner Lady-Walksalot on and off until she got hurt in VT. She had to get off in Hanover and will be back next summer to finish her final two states. AKA finished way before me, as did Patch. Nickel and Dime were way fast, blowing by me in the Smokies. Didn’t hear of them after. I just got an email from Knuckles, who had to get off, but her sister Gaiter is chuggin’ away-- probably well into Maine by now. Josh and Crystal I didn’t see since Traildays, and if Snail and Sally are the guy and girl from VA Tech, they finished a week before me, after Snail had to hobble out of the wilderness sick, and then return to summit.
Ummm… that all said, THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!
That was such vital magic-- it was so cold and miserable that morning, and I haven’t stopped telling the story of meeting you guys to all my friends and family. I’d read your journals for inspiration before hiking, and wow, was it cool to meet you all right there!
