Cohos Trail - Appalachian Trail

Any advice on planning a hike on the Cohos Trail in NH this summer? Specifically, are all the sections complete yet and is it feasible to camp in the northern sections? Also, how does it compare with the NH and Maine sections of the AT? And is it linked yet to the Canadian/Lac-Megantic trails? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has hiked it.

All the sections are not connected. There only 2-3 official camping spots in the north. It is not connected to Canada yet. The trail is so new it easily washed out in sections especially last summer. With all the snow this year IM sure its gonna be wet. If you go forget about the Davis Path and Isolaton trail sections these are nice but senseless.

Hi John, Do you like an adventure ??? The Cohos will give you one. Lighting and I hiked about half way last summer ( southern half ) We had a lot of fun. After you leave the Whites keep a good eye out for the trail. Very few trail markings if any. Water was no problem. Food resupply at Faybains O/K and at the Irvings gas station in Jefferson O/K those were are only two we needed. Camping we just camped on the trail. Cabot cabin was GREAT you should stay there. Sorry I cant help you with the northern parts have not been there yet. Good Luck Brother Buzz:lol :lol

I don’t know why Chef suggests skipping the Davis Path - Isolation section of the Cohos Trail. I really enjoyed that section. This is a great trail but not easy to resupply, is hard to follow in places and not complete yet. The section I did (southern section to the Balsams) was very nicely constructed and tough. I especially liked the section from Stark pond north. I stealth camped for the time I was out and was glad I brought my Hennessy Hammock as flat spaces are at a premium. Have a great hike!

being a nh native, i am totally! into the idea of hiking this trail this summer, perhaps august after the waters have somewhat melted (snowmelt in several parts of the CT can last well into june) and bugs have simmered. any kids out there on the same plan? company would be nice.
peace.
