Colorado Trail section 6

Our guide for the ADT suggests we buy the CT Official Guide and use it while the two trails are on the same route for 118 miles. Our CDT guides (CDTA & CDTS) cover the distance from Copper Mtn to Twin Lakes. Should I buy the $23 Official Guide or would the $6 Data book be enough? Can I hike that section without a guide or would I be missing important or interesting information? How close are the discribed points in the CT Guide?

Get the data book. It’s the way to go! The guide book doesn’t have enough info in it for actually hiking the trail. You don’t really need much info at all to hike the CT as its pretty well signed and marked.

I second the databook vs. the guidebook idea. The databook is nice concise guide. When I did the CT, did not find the databook as useful.

Naturally, be sure to take the appropriate maps for the stretch. I like the Trails Illustrated maps myself.
