To any East Coasters planning on hiking the Colorado Trail this summer - how are people getting out there? Trains? Planes? Buses? Driving? Anyone interested in carpooling?

In case you can’t get a ride to the trailhead, there are public buses that run to the trailhead on weekdays. The route is 63X and runs from downtown Denver. The Lockheed/Martin Marietta plant is right next to the trailhead.

I thought I’d mention this for 2004’s to note in your guidebooks:

At the Copper ski resort, you can take a free bus to a nearby hostel (in Fresco) called the Alpine Hutte. It would be a far cheaper place to get showers than the Copper Mt. ultra-wanna-be ski city (which is in a National Forest -go figure). Plus the hostel owner is a deadhead.

But, make sure you hit the small mexican restaurant at the Copper complex for a cerveca and some pretty good nachos (although nowhere as good as the rising sun brewhouse in Boulder).

There you go. Have fun ya’ll.
