Compactor Bags as Backpack Liners

On my '03 thru-hike I hiked with a guy who gave me an extra plastic trash compactor bag from his bounce box. It was great…never ripped and kept everything dry the entire hike and this past year too. Much sturdier and fits better than the over-the-counter regular trash bags.

As I emptied my backpack to wash it for this year’s hike, I noticed it did have a couple of holes so I went to Sears and bought a 12 pack of the Kenmore Plastic Compactor bags. They are a tough 3 mil multi-laminate plastic and fit perfectly in my P1.

Since I have some extra bags, I am offering them free to the first ten '05 thru-hikers that want one…absolutely no cost or obligation including postage. Just email your name and mailing address and please allow a couple of weeks for me to collect the orders, package them and put them in the mail.

Call it a little “trail magic” from Trailjournals.

I’m still using the one I used last year, no holes yet…Thanks skeemer.

Hey Skeemer. Nice offer. Do you by any chance know how much one of these puppies weighs, for us tenth-of-an-ounce-matters folks?

The bags are probably lighter than wet gear. I am going to try the Glad stretching no tear bag. The weight of whatever is in them creates a suction that conformes to its contents.
