Hi! Anyone been to hike Macafee’s Knob (North on AT from 311/Catawba) lately? There is a snow storm happening now! Maybe 3-5 inches more by tomorrow. Wondering how much snow there already was there. I’m planning to take my young family (kids 7 & 10) on a backpacking adventure there this week. Storm will be over, but how much snow do we have to hike through and camp in? I want someone to tell me it’s no big deal. Please and Thank you!

Your kids will hate hiking forever if you do this. Check out the pictures provided on Trail Journals or the You Tube videos…Scoutmaster went by there the other day. It’s way too cold. You know that May is a good time to hike in this area. Unless this is some sort of punishment or perhaps survival training at building an ice cave.
