Connecticut AT in the NY Times

A slightly amusing and mostly sympathetic look at thru-hikers (but looking “as if they have come from …the stone age, perhaps…”) by a sometime-trail angel in Salisbury. Some local trail history; info on trail runners, and the like–thru hikers may recognize some of these folks

The article is in the Escapes section, but don’t worry about readers crowding into shelters–the recommended places to stay begin at $149 per night.

I saw the article and it reminded me that there is an easy section to hike on the AT just a brief trainride away. Also appreciated the view that there is a time when the trail gets empty of Thru-Hikers and some solitude becomes available. Of course, if one desires to communicate with hikers who have traveled from the nether regions of the trail then June,July, and August are the months to set out on a hike in Connecticut.
