Connecticut Bridge Closure

Salisbury, Connecticut August 11, 2008.

Falls Village Iron Bridge closed - Normally used by the A.T. to cross the Housatonic River, the Iron Bridge (also called Amesville Bridge) in Falls Village is currently closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A temporary relocation (0.5 mile longer than A.T.) has been marked using Dugway Road on the west side of the river. Northbound directions: Upon reaching U.S. 7 just north of Belter’s Bump, turn left and follow U.S. 7 0.1 mile to “triangle” intersection. Bear to the left and follow CT Rt. 112 west for 0.8 mile. Turn right on Dugway Road, and proceed 2.2 miles to re-join A.T. at the west (A.T. north) end of closed bridge. Southbound directions: Upon reaching the closed bridge, continue south on Dugway Road for 2.2 miles to reach CT Rt. 112. Turn left and follow Rt. 112 east for 0.8 mile to reach “triangle” intersection with U.S. 7. Bear to the right and follow U.S. 7 0.1 mile to re-join A.T. southbound. The Iron Bridge is planned to re-open in mid September.
