Cooking on the trail

Hello everyone!

I will be hiking the trail starting at Segment 8 around June 23d or so. I am travelling from Germany to Denver so I am not allowed to bring gas cooking canisters on the flight and am thinking of other potential cooking options. I am certain I could manage to pick up a few canisters or have some waiting for me somewhere, but I am curious about other options as well. You can get small fire tins (aka, grills) here that look interesting but I am not sure if “grilling” or picking up fuel (i.e. dead wood) is allowed. Any tips on this? How do you all cook on the trail?

Thanks much and greetings from Berlin!

Try an alcohol stove. They are easy to make once you get here;
fuel is readily available, too.

Thanks for the tip (again) Paul Mags. Will look into this a bit, seems like a good option.
