Copper Spur UL1 or UL2

I'm thru-hiking the AT next year and wondering about which tent I should take, the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL1 or UL2. I've tried out both and the UL2 is roomier and only a few ounces heavier, and the UL1 is more compact. Without shoes, being 6 feet tall, I can fit perfectly inside, but I'm worried about my sleeping bag brushing the ends. Which one do you guys suggest? Thanks!

A couple of ounces turns out to be a lot when you are carrying it all day. It is all in the trade off between comfort when you are hiking for eight to twelve hours a day or sleeping for eight hours per night. I am 6'2" and perfer a little extra comfort at night so I hike with the UL2 and don't mind the extra weight during the day. I find it a more then fair exchange for me. I have had the foot box of my bag get damp during the night on a couple of occasions but never actually wet through.

Thanks, yeah I have the same thoughts. The UL1 just feels almost like a coffin, and I'd rather have a few extra ounces than risk a damp sleeping bag or an uncomfortable night's rest, especially when rest is what you need most out on the trail.

At 5'9" I'm shorter than you are, but I prefer the roominess of the UL2. I toss around a lot t night. Most everyone I spoke to or read about was happy to have the extra room of a 2 person tent. I plan to use my UL2 starting May of 2016 on my thru hike. I plan to recover the weight increase of the 2 person with a DIY down quilt.
