CT and CDT As One

Does anyone have a map showing both the CT and the CDT in Colorado? I’d like to see where they meet to run concurrently and then diverge.

Supposedly this happens twice. The first time is for 79 miles from about Copper Mountain to ?. They rejoin again 6 miles south of Monarch Pass and run for 145 miles to near Silverton, where the CDT goes 84 miles SE through the Weminuche Wilderness to Wolk Creek Pass while the CT heads 73 miles SW to Durango.

Trying to figure if it’s possible to do both trails (in CO) in one season.

Not Copper Mountain. Heading south, they run together for 81 miles from Georgia Pass (west of Kenosha Pass) to Twin Lakes and from a point above Fooses Creek between Monarch and Marshall Passes 135.6 miles to a split near Elk Creek south of Silverton. BTW, the distance from the split to Wolf Creek on the CDT is 89 miles and to Durango on the CT is 87.6 miles. The splits are described in the CT seventh edition revised guidebook and new Colorado CDT maps will be available by next summer. Total miles to do both trail is just over 1000 miles.

Just a little warning. The CT is quite a bit lower than most of the CDT when they are not running concurrently. So you might want to do the CT first then hit the CDT sections. Also, the CT is much better marked and signed in most places than the CDT. The CDT north from Grand Lake is very hard to find and runs on ATV trails and has some 30% grades both up and down. I found it to be the hardest section of trail on the entire CDT when I hiked it this year.
