What do people do when people are in town resupplying with a dog? What about inns/motels?

I think the easiest way to handle that (if you are solo) is to find a doggie day care and get your shopping done while the dog is in there. Some of the hotels are pet friendly. I stayed at Super 8 in Silverthorne with my dog. As far as the other towns along the way, I would check on the websites. I know that the Leadville Hostel was pet friendly last year. I am not sure if that has changed or not. Neither the Fireside Inn nor the Bivvi Hostels allow pets. There is a Kennel in Breck that will accept your friend for the night though. The Simple lodge and hostel in Salida is pet friendly as well. Dont know about the Raven’s Rest in Lake City, but the Blair Street Hostel is “Totally dog friendly.” If you are hiking with a friend, you could stagger shopping visits while the other one plays with the dog in the park. Durango has all types of hotels. They are bound to have the pet friendly variety there. Just one thing - please keep your dog on the leash. The last thing you want is your friend going off and chasing a squirrel or crossing paths with a big predator. Not to mention other hikers that may not like dogs or other dogs that want to fight.

I will be thru hiking the Colorado trail with my pups starting late July. I’m meeting with two buddies that will have a dog also. Super stoked and happy to see that others have their dogs along:) I’m a dog trainer so no worries every little detail is planned and dogs come first.
