CT Hiking beginning of July

Hi fellow hikers, my friend and I are planning 8 days on the CT the first week of July. We have completed segments 1-5. We are flexible where we hike, any segments after 5. We are concerned about the Breck area so early in the season. Any of you have recommendations where we can find about 120 miles in the middle of the CT without having to post hole?
Thanks!

Saphta - You should be good anywhere on the CT by early July. You may hit patches of isolated snow, but postholing for more than a hundred or so yards shouldn’t be necessary. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I would suggest just carrying on with segment 6 and stopping at Halfmoon, Twin Lakes, or Clear Creek depending upon how fast you go. Lots of nice country in there. Clear Creek is 119.2 miles from Kenosha Pass. You could bail earlier at Halfmoon or Twin Lakes if you don’t go as fast as your plan.
