CT hiking partner

Anyone hiking the CT solo this 2003 season in July?

I have been planning on hiking solo, but recently I’ve been wondering if I could find a happy medium between hiking solo and having a hiking partner.

I was thinking that maybe I could find someone who would go with me, agreeing on a campsite destination each evening to meet at. So we would meet at camp at night for company and safety, but not hike together during the day. Maybe we could carry a pair of those GPS 2-way radios like this one: http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?productId=47469270&storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&langId=-1

I am a lightweight backpacker that would like to start out at 10 miles a day in the beginning and build up from there as able. I would like to take a zero day once every week at a nearby trail town. I have a small Sheltie dog that will be going too. I am starting in July. My philosophy and goal is to enjoy the trip, not rush to the destination. If I can’t finish up in Durango in the time that I have, I won’t be upset, I just want to enjoy the journey whatever its length.
