We were dinged by alot of thunder storms and hail. Very strange… just about every afternoon. You don’t want to be up high then. We did get caught a few times.

We had a couple nights below freezing, but no big deal if you have a good quilt or bag. Of course, anything could happen up there. If it does, then GET OFF if you’re not prepared fer it. My coldest point was during a heavy hailstorm (lots of wind: snapped I.M.'s umbrella faced into the wind), and my feet were cold. It made me want to make some gor-tex booties for my sandled feet. But, those storms never last long in the summer (so they say).

What about low temps in July to mid-August? What are generally the lowest nighttime temps at higher elevations that time of year? Trying to decide what bag to take.

More particularly in the first 200 miles from Denver, since I don’t think I’m going to be able to do the whole trail this summer.
