Davenport Gap to Sams Gap... How many days?

I am trying to figure out what my husband and I can do for our little break coming up here. We are both in great shape and experienced hikers and I have obviously done the Davenport-Sams part before.
It looks to be 76 miles. Do you folks think this is do-able in 3 days? or should I make it 4 days? It looks like a lot of ridgewalking… guess I shoud read my old thru-hike journal and see what I thought the first time… but HAS ANYONE DONE JUST THIS SECTION AT ONE TIME AND HAVE AN OPINION ON IT?
Thanks,

Looks like I took 5 days to do this before and two of those days were half days because of hot springs and going to church on Sunday. One irony is that I did this section on my thru-hike on the same weekend back in 2001~!
I also have to factor in the fact that my dog will be with us too! I don’t think he will slow us down… but who knows.

It took me about seven days in 2004. That’s just a touch over ten miles per day. You’ve done it a lot faster than I, but consider that a dog is usually good for about ten miles a day. That’s about how much a wild dog (like wolves, coyotes, etc.) will do if there isn’t a compelling reason to do more. Remember, the dog doesn’t have a way to tell you when he’s done too much. Most owners tend to over estimate what their pets can do.

Thanks for the dog input. I will definitely reconsider that when I calculate tonight. He is going to be 9 months old here in the week and I can’t imagine wearing him out ever.
