Deep Creek Reopens in March?

The rumor on the Deep Creek Hot Springs Discussion Forum*** is that the San Bernardino NF tentatively plans reopen the Deep Creek area on 15-Mar-2004. For the definitive word on current plans, and to indicate your interest in the trail, you may wish to call the Sky Forest RS yourself, +1-909-382-2782 (or +1-909-337-2444), and ask for Brad Burns or Norma Baily. Of course, please post if your defintive word differs from my rumor! :slight_smile:

According to an article in the Victor Valley Daily Press, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, located on the PCT north of Big Bear, might not reopen until as late as July 2004, due to the extensive damage caused by the Old Fire. Then again, it might reopen as early as April. Nothing is firm yet.
