Now that the Waterton starting point is (or will be) closed, how easy might it be to get to the Segment 2 starting point using public transport from Denver?
I am based in the UK and thinking of doing the CT later this year.

The Segments 1-2 division at the South Platte River is on a low traffic mountain road. I think there is no public transport to there. A taxi would take you but it would be costly. Maybe another forum user will offer to assist you with shuttle. I’d suggest you try to get a ride to one of the Waterton alternatives so you could catch most of Segment 1. On the CTF site there’s a map of one option, URL below, and there is one or more other alternatives through/near Roxborough State Park if the limitations don’t trouble you.

OK, thanks - I’ll take a look at the alternatives and have a think about it - a few extra miles is no problem if it puts me closer to the start.

Public transportation to the South Platte (Gudy Bridge) is non-existent. There are several alternatives which will be much simpler to access. Feel free to email me for assistance with this endeavor. One can still easily get to Lenny’s Rest (Section 1) from the Roxborough Park area. If in town, I will gladly help get you to the starting point. It is very close to where I live. TGuy

That sounds great - will be in touch when plans firm up; will be spending a couple of days in Denver at the start if the trip comes off, sorting out gear and food and so forth.
I did find that RTD have a bus to Pine Junction which seems to be about 13 miles from a Buffalo Creek link to the trail.
