Am headed to the Shenandoahs to hike for a few days...meeting a friend at Skyland. I'll be coming down 81 and wonder if it's better to get off at Front Royal and go south on Skyline Drive, or stay on 81 and go in at Thornton Gap then north. Anyone familiar with the area and can help me out?

Go to Thornton Gap and go south. Skyland is about 11 miles south of the gap (MP 41.7 and 42.5)
