In New York, Can anybody tell me the distance from the Taconic Parkway junction south to the Rt. 301 junction. We plan on taking some new scouts on this portion of the trail to fulfill some advancement requirements. If they do well we may continue south to Sunk Mine Road which I know is 2.1 miles and then camp at Clear Lake Scout Camp. Thanks

This kind of question is best answered by using the
ALDHA Online Companion, as it gives an easy mileage reference. For your particular section, the mileages are: from Taconic Parkway to NY301 is 7.3 miles, adding on the bit to Sunk Mine Rd. takes the total to 8.9 miles. Both these are perfectly doable distances in a day for even less experienced hikers, as this is not an overly rough section of trail (unlike some of the NY sections south of the Hudson.)
